Hello to all. I'm a new member here so i thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. I've been a serious turner for about a year and thought I'd show off some of my bowls. The bowls are better than the photography.... The roughed out blanks were given to me and I think I have a Elm and an Ambrosia Maple bowl.

Welcome;
I like the simple shape of the bowls, lets the wood do the talking and that wood has a lot to say.

Wes,
Hi from over the Pacific, like your two bowls, I have come to penmaking mostly now but same old wood fascinates me. We have different timbers in our wood pile and like everyone the timber is always drier on the other side of the fence or ocean. I hasten to say prices are extremely favourable in the USA and the varieties endless. I bought 140 outstanding blanks from Kentucky one time including freight came to 1.50 each they were from local Kentucky timbers and a large number from South America. It is cheaper to buy exotic African timbers through the US than here as well, something to do with population densities with Australia having around 22 million folks total in a very large country.

Essentially have fun.

Regards Peter.
