Anyone use a rolling stool of some sort in their shop? What you all recommend?
I have foot problems that make standing for long periods very uncomfortable.
I have tried anti-fatigue mats, with a little success.
Most shop stools I have seen are very low, like for a car mechanic or don't rolll..
Thanks

Just out of curiosity, why the rolling requirement?

I have 2 stools, from Woodcraft, the padded swivel bar stool type. They work great, are cushy to the ... oh forget the rhyme...

Anyway, these things are light enough, that it is easy to just pick them up and place them where you want to be then plop your tail down on them and go back to work...

I have one from Woodcraft (Hydraulic height adj) with wheels. Very useful for my weary legs and back. The lowest height is a half standing position with a footrest if you want to sit all the way. Unfortunately, I checked W/C and they don't sell it anymore.

You may have better luck than I, but a quick Google did not show any stools that are both height adj and have wheels. Other places have shop stools but they don't roll.

I thought rolling might be more convenient but with cords and all in the way, maybe not.

I have a few different ones in my shop. By far the most comfortable is from Grizzly...reminds me of the seat on my first Harley http://grizzly.com/products/Deluxe-Shop-Stool-with-Backrest/H8364

I would be concerned about it... Specifically stability with wheels so close together, with such a high center of gravity...

My stools, which are just basic little chrome padded stools with the Woodcraft logo unfortunately are no longer offered. Amazon has similar stools, and I am sure even Walmart carries something similar... (I am NOT advocating Miller Lite here, just the first one like it that came up in the search...)

That 17lb shipping weight is probably more than half packaging...

This one looks comfortable and makes getting from one side of your shop to the other a breeze.

I have, in my wooden floor shop, a rolling office chair. I have lowered the stands for some of my equipment to accomidate this. Like my benches, scroll saw ,sander ,router and drum sander. Works great! Why use a stool at all? Just lower the equipment!

I have 2 3-legged wooden stools. One is a barstool height and the other is a little less than chair height. This allows me to choose my working level.

I generally use them when hand trimming joints or dismantling something.

Low-tech but effective :)
