I made 4 of these stools this year, these were finished today. They are made from cherry and are copied from an old stool my mother-in law had. I made one for each of my sister in laws and my wife. They are finished with Deft.
Thanks for looking
Earl :)

Earl -

Nice work on the stools. What a great idea - something from their childhood carried forward. Will they be in the same basic place in the houses of today as they were back when?

Regards,
Ted

Hi Earl,

Did you drill the spindle holes before turning the legs (when they were flat), or did you use jigs after you turned them?

I drilled the holes after I did the turning. Set the drill press at 11 deg and positioned the spindles between 2 strips of wood clamped to the DP table. I used a spade bit that I ground down a little. This was the first time I made any thing of thie type, I did ruin a couple spindles
When the girls were growing up the stool was used wherever needed. I have the original in my shop.
