This one is western big leaf maple and is about 11 1/4 by 3. I made several real big mistakes on it. One was turning the outside and leaving it sit until I got back from camping and then turning the inside. It was like turning corduroy. I had to use a scraper for the last 1/4 of the way. But I have to say that through the advice given here, I have gotten a 3/8 and 1/2 inch DT bowl gouge, learned how to duplicate his grind and even managed through, trial and error, to use it and leave a fairly decent finish. And brag, brag, never got a catch on the inside of a bowl. Outside is a somewhat different story.
Oh yeah, that's my wifes' old washing machine in the background. Farm & Fleet would't haul it away when I got her new one.
