Hello All,

This is a piece of dogwood with malachite inlay, it is taken with my new backdrop in place. It is a vast improvement but I would lilke to see some of the glass like finish in the photo. Any suggestions?

Regards, Steve

Nice piece Steve!! Whenever I want to show off a little gloss, but not get overwhelmed with hotspots from the lighting....I just move the camera around at different angles til I get that one glint of light. It doesn't take much but a glint to show off the finish.
Some of the folks around here are really good at it. :)

Nicely done. Your photos are better than mine so I can't help you there.

Steve - real nice work!

I agree with John - to get the gloss to photograph you have to play with your lighting. Just remember that a little bit of glare goes a long way!

Steve, I really like the looks of this piece, particularly with the "divot" out of the side - adds a lot of interest. Nice coloration, too!

Steve,I hope you don't mind, buut I tweaked the picture just a bit, looked like your flash washed it out, does this look a bit more "true color"?

Very nice piece too, I love that you kept the void. I love turning DW, it is as smooth as butter. As far as the glassy finish, that is hard. to much and you get flash burns. Most folks try hard to avoid the high gloss in the photo's but changing you light angle will give you that.
