Ash with a light walnut stain (WATCO Danish Oil). The gavel was Beal buffed and waxed, the Goblet will get a poly finish to seal it, maybe epoxy on the inside to make it usable. The gavel will be a gift to the turning club. Picture quality not the best, the wife is on 'walk-about' and took the good camera.

Nice work, Thom. I really like ash - lot of character, but sometimes it can be a pain to get a good surface on in flatwork. It also doesn't want to take stain very well, but it looks like you are getting a great finish on these pieces.

Nice work on both items but really like the way the curly stands out in the goblet!
