Finally, I got some wood to gloat about. I order this from a supplier in Washington that deals mainly in pen blanks and bottle stoppers. This was the wood order that I made to accompany my monster hollowing rig(not here yet:mad:).

I see a couple of big maple burl blanks with natural edges, a large and small Australian yellow box burl, a nice piece of figured maple, a small redwood blank, and a small Australian jarrah burl blank. The latter two listed are on the right side of the photo and are 6x6x2.5 inches.

Sure thing Bob. His name is Isaac Rapelje.
He's got active listings in the individual classifieds on IAP, but I think he's out of town this week for a family trip.

David, I doubt you will save cut much from the Jarrah Burl but I am looking forward to hearing how you find it to turn it varies in colour from quite light to very dark and can give your chisels a solid work out.

Have success Peter.:D

David, of what you have, the BLM burls are the most exciting for me!! They will really make a couple of nice pieces. You like the vase forms, and those are perfect!! Nice stuff.

Be sure to consider leaving some of the natural surface at the opening, if you can. I did that with the box elder burl piece I have in the Art Challenge, and really like it.

Enjoy and good luck getting the flow of the outside of the HFs...that is a challenge at times...personal proportions notwithstanding!;) Believe me, I know.

I've got some nice BLM myself in my loot pile...just trying to decide to take the plunge with it. Just when I think I know what I want to do...I see something like Brian Greb's "Alchemy", and my mind starts spinning on what ifs.

Nice loot pile!
