Just finished this little Acer Negundo bowl, it's about 8½ " X 3¾" light weight and has just one coat of Polymerized Tung oil on it, applied about 2 hours ago, needs a few more to bring out the looks of the wood :D

Any and all comments welcome :)

Leo, that is just TASTY in every respect! Nice form, the finish looks good and compliments both the form and the spectacular wood.

Figured maple of any kind is just so hard to beat!! Great form on this one Leo, but then again, I have never seen you do a bad form!! That rim really fits this one.

Very nice Leo. I like the subtle ogee shape to this bowl and the rim is excellent.

The rim detail is just enough to give it a little character without taking away beauty of the figured maple. Love that stuff...wish I could find a free source for it.

Nice...very nice. No complaints here.

Nicely done Leo. I also really like the rim and intend to attempt to duplicate it in the near future.

Nicely done. As others have said, the little detail at the rim makes this piece for me.

Wow, you guys almost make me blush :o, with all those comments, thank you :D

Funny thing is Acer Negundo, (AKA Manitoba Maple or Box Elder) has never been a favorite wood of mine, but I must admit, with the figured grain it does look quite nice, ........and I have a whole log of it, with quite some burl and figure in it, now if I only can get it turned before it starts splitting etc., I better get busy :D, thanks again :)

Very nicely done Leo. I am attracted to the curve leading up to the rim and that cool little raised area coming out of the bowl. Nice touch!! :)

Thank you John :D, yes there's very little difference between a too flat side and a attractive curve, it takes very little sometimes to get it right, I guess I got lucky here ;), also the rim a bit of a curve and all of a sudden there's an interesting shape, I love to turn and just add little things to these fairly simple shapes, I guess sometimes less is more :)

It's difficult to add to what has already been said; the piece is stunning in it's simplicity -- perfectly executed! ;)
