This is what I got for Fathers Day. I've been using and old Husqvarna 61 and it has been great until I started getting larger tree's this spring. The last three trees that I've cut up have been in the range of 38" to 50" dia. Using the 61 with a 20" bar has worked me and it way to much. This new saw is a Husqvarna 372xp with a 24" bar, and I plan on getting a 28" bar later this year. I slabed this round up in less than 10 minutes and it was 22" long by 24" in dia. It would have taken me 20 minutes with the 61.

That is a FABULOUS Father's Day present.
The 28 inch bar should be no problem for the power head!

sweet saw, the only thing better than getting wood that big is getting the saw to cut it.

Congrats Jack! That is quite the saw! I have the 357 XP with a 20" bar and have to admit that there are times a longer bar sure would be nice!

Have fun with your new saw! Happy Father's Day!

Thanks everyone, I feel a little like Tim the Tool Man when I use this saw. It has a ton of power. It will require more care when using with the extra HP. Being the first new saw I've ever owned I discovered that I should have been greasing the needle bearings on my other saws all theses years. These bearings are what the clutch assymbly spin on. It does pay to read the directions sometimes.
Thanks again,
Jack

Jack, I also have the Husky 372xp with both 24" and 28" bars. Works very well and does everything I need. Just have to keep the log well off the ground when noodling with the 28" bar or the noodles will clog the cog.

Jack, That saw is way to clean! It needs some sap and oil and all the other stuff that years of hard work puts on a saw! Have fun with it and keep all the important apendages out of the way of that chain!

Cut safe and have fun!

Jeff

Jack,
real nice Father's Day gift and a great saw.I have a 17 year old smaller Husky that has never missed a beat .I wanted to see how the other half lived so I bought a same size as yours,Stihl and like it too I will say that the new saws run a lot better on mid grade gas.I bet that back where you are located you get to use the saw on a regular basis.I was just up in Sylva and boy do I love that area.Be safe.
