There isn't a better deal on a bandsaw right now. That is why there is one sitting in my shop :D

However, it's only a good deal if a 2hp, 17" Bandsaw is a tool you need.

If it is, then get yer CC out.

Lots of discussion about the 513p in this thread:

http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=141827

Right now it is probably the most for the least money BUT I would argue that the 513X is a better value even at roughly $200 more.

As for waiting, if I was going to get a G0513 I would probably not wait, no one knows what the end of the year sales will bring but I would be surprised if it was any lower than now.

I agree with this. The 531 was my first choice with the cast iron trunnions.

It is better equipped too. The re-saw fence is a bonus, and the cast iron wheels are an arguable point. But it is $200 more, and that was the decider for me .... It was just too much to pay right now.

The Polar Bear is not an inferior compromise. On it's own merit it is a very good bandsaw, so the rest is simply down to choice.

We'll I can continue to do my band saw cuts at friends house and hope the x goes on sale after thanksgiving. Thanks for everyone’s help!

if you buy it via grizzly ebay store, you can get 8% bing cashback and 2% ebay bucks. So it's like $100 off and free shipping for x2. I don't know if thanksgiving sale has bigger discount than that in the past. Maybe someone know grizzly's discount history can shread some light.

How do you get free shipping? Just bought the 0513p last week through ebay and it was 74$ for just a day or two. Is this a new promotion?

I mean if buy through ebay, the extra bing cashback+ebay bucks is ~equivalent to free shipping, or 10% discount on top of the sale price.

Having just received a 0513p, what is the benefit of cast iron trunnions? I assume it is for fairly heavy material so as not the flex as much; any other benefit?

That's pretty much it. You could make an academic argument about other benefits but in general it helps support the table better particularly when it is tilted.
