So like I said it is a Sweet Heart #5 1/4 , it is pretty rough. The handle was broken and was glued back together buy the previous owner and is pretty rusted. Should I try and refinish i or hang it on the wall?

Pictures would help.

Also does it have any cracks or other breaks?

A poorly repaired handle can be fixed.

No cracks or breaks, fix it. It's pretty rare that one can't be brought back, even if it doesn't make monetary sense to do it.

Cracks, junk it and keep the valuable parts, and breaks - depends on where they are, and what your objective is.

Early SW era preferred. I want to put a low knob on it.

I have a pair that I bought on ebay, but they look to have been high school shop models and have been pretty beat up. Both have hang holes and the good one only has cracks about 1/4 inch long at each side of the mouth.

Just part of the living and learning experience.
