I found this very nicely made Snell & Atherton tool this morning. It looks like some kind of carriage maker's tool, and leaves a nice slightly curved concave surface. I sharpened it up and it sings. But what is it?

Looks like a free form beading/fluting tool.
Just about have to hold it in my hand and try it to be sure. Let me know if you want my address.

It is a shoemakers tool for shaving leather soles.

Jim is right. I found it on the web as a "1474a Snell Atherton leather shave"

Thanks. Now I have to figure out what to do with it. Leather work is not my thing.
