Somewhere around 1985 I acquired a 1/2" "Bob Stocksdale Signature" bowl gouge. It had a nice BE maple handle but it developed a nasty split down the middle. So today I made a new purpleheart handle for it. Then I used it to turn some other stuff that I don't have pics of yet. It's a nice gouge... good steel. Holds an edge for a long time.

Nicely done David. It also reminds me that I need to turn a handle for a couple of new marking knives I bought last Christmas.

That's beautiful. The purple wood and silver tool are a nice color combo.

David, you have style - even in your tool handles!! Really a nice combo.

Nice shape on the handle. I use a like profile on my homemade handles. Very comfortable.

Nice handle, look like it fits the hand well.

"...look(s) like it fits the hand well..."

It's pretty "fat" but I have pretty big mitts so I need something to hang on to!

That looks very Nice David. Is it flattened on the butt end, or is this just an illusion?

"...flattened on the butt end...?"

Nope. An illusion I'm afraid, most likely caused by my somewhat less than superior photographic skills.
