Hi there -
I came across the plans for this workbench in the American Woodworker website. Not sure what issue they were originally in, but they are on the website for free so it might have been some time ago.
Has anyone built this or a modified version of it? I'm liking the general design and am thinking about tackling it later this fall when the cold weather forces me inside more.
If anyone has built it, are there any pros/cons that you can pass along? I am not sure if the top as shown would sag over time given that it's only supported on the ends. I like the way it's done though as it's sort of a little shelf to place tools as you are working on something and it's great for clamping as well.
The bench is mobile as well - there's 6 swivel casters hidden underneath and you jack up and place little blocks (shown in the pic) to "plant" the bench to make it stable.
Thanks for any comments or pointers.
Cheers,
Lewis
