Attention all Pen Turners of the Creek!!!

I want to organize The 2010 Pen Exchange here at “The Creek” so other Creeker’s can share their talents with one another. All I need is for you to do is “opt in” on this thread so I can keep a list of all the participants and on July 1st I will pick pairs from the list of participants. I will then post the pairs on this thread and it will be your responsibility to contact your partner to do the exchange.

I also want to make people aware that they are responsible to meeting their commitments for the exchanged pens. I would make sure that you both agree on the type of pens you are exchanging so it isn't an uneven exchange.

Can I get a moderator to make this thread a sticky until July 1st so I can keep track of the list of people?

I hope this will be a successful 2010 Pen Exchange for all to enjoy.

Thanks,
Tom

Ryan makes a good point.

It does not matter what kind of pen you make, especially if this is set up where partners will communicate preferences ahead of time.

Second, I would encourage everyone who has the tooling to make a pen to participate. Don't worry about how 'good' you think you are, or aren't. I view these exchanges as a unique way to share what we make and develop a unique connection with others in the forum.

I couldn't agree more... This goes for the numerous members who have yet to turn a pen(a couple of our moderators come to mind). Looking forward to seeing some first pens!

Thinking along those lines, I volunteer to do a pen swap with Mr. Keeton. Whether as part of this exchange, or if its a random drawing approach, separately. :D

How's that for a gauntlet thrown down? :)

I feel I haven't done my part to drag him into this crazy hobby of our's yet. Although I would say that everyone who sent him tools and wood certainly did a good job.

Tom, count me in for this year's swap, too. I bought a new blue felt-tip pen on Saturday, so I'm ready!

Geez...I'd sure hate to be one of the MANY holdouts that prevent us from beating last years number.

And I agree whole-heartedly...the moderators and other long-time Creekers need to get in this too.

Sounds fun, looking forward to it.

I've only done the slimlines, bullets and workshop pens in past...but have been wanting to go outside the box with one of the nicer styles.

I hasten to add my humble experience in Pen Swaps in the past numbers or records or incentive talk is no substitute for desire to swap for all the right reasons.

Exchanging needs to be fairly swift cleanly executed done in good faith by willing not conscripted members.

I have made a resolve for example to have my pen ready to send within one week of being notified of my swap partner. I will prepare more than one pen to give choice in case for example my swap person may be junior, female, male or have a real desire for innovation etc. Communication including dates of sending the courtesy of advising receipt are very important to me to keep faith both to the forum and me.

Will the swappees for the sake of a word show pics of their own or received pens when both pens are exchanged and received? How and where? Details in advance please.

I for one look forward to this swap I make pens using Slimline kits with Streamline bands reason being its my preference to keep my hobby within my means.

Enclosing a pic of a pen made recently for my Mechanic I called the pen Sparky 2 The pen is made from white Corian Top African Ebony Hex Cut base with Streamline band and Cocobolo.

Regards Peter.

Regards Peter.

Last year we had a new thread started that was just for the pictures of pens swapped. When all names are in I will give everyone a number by which they entered the swap. Then I computer randomize the numbers to match everyone up. It is the responsibility of the 2 people to contact one another to agree on what pens they will do for each other and do the exchange.

Peter am I counting you in on the exchange?
