Finally got a chance to get out to my new "summer shop". I really needed one of these:

153471
153470

But what's it used for?!?!

153472

It's a candle holder! Then there's this little thingie. It's actually got a use. A free something if you can guess what...

153473

No big deal but I really had a good time. Beautiful day and with both ends of my "shop" open, it''s like working outside.

Nice looking turnings.

I'll take a stab at the latter item's purpose... It's used to press the wax flat when sealing an envelope.:D

David, glad you are getting to use the new "open air shop!!" Nice work on both. High style on the candle holder, and I don't have a clue what the other thingie is - but it looks padded on top and hard on bottom, so I am going to guess it gets pounded with your hand for some purpose??!??!

"...it gets pounded with your hand for some purpose??!??!"

Not exactly "pounded". But close. That's a hint...

I think Mr. Keeton's description is an eloquent way of saying "bonker".:D

Now that I look at it, it could be used as a nut cracker(among other things).

Could be a short grinder for salt or pepper :D

"...espresso tamper?"

Si. OK... a free something. How about a nice caffe mocha? OK, I admit it. I have both a caffeine jones and a chocolate jones.

Shoot, and I was just in the neighborhood. What a tease! Can you fedex a mocha? Nice tamper and candle holder Dave.

"Can you fedex a mocha?"

Sure ya can. Just might choke on the next day shipping charge tho... Tell ya what. Next time you are in town, hit me up. My wife and I have a cafe here and I'll whip you up a deadly mocha...

Nice pieces David... Ya know...since you have a cafe...maybe you could take a picture of the tamper next to some beans and chocolate at the cafe?

Sorry...just being a long-distance shutterbug.:)

Just for the record, I was gettin' purty close with MY answer!! That oughta be good for a $.50 discount next time I stop in the cafe!!:D

But, being as I ain't never consumed nuthin' more expensive than Folgers, the term "espresso tamper" really wasn't in my vocabulary - but it had to be what I was thinkin' when I answered!:p

"That oughta be good for a $.50 discount..."

You got it. Fifty cents off a mocha. I'll even let you try my espresso machine. I'll "turn" you into a barista. But I warn you... it's an addiction. Trying to make the "perfect espresso" will become the dominant force in your life...

I love the espresso tamper. Might have to make me one myself.

Do you have a Mrs....Mrs Jones?

"Do you have a ....Mrs Jones?"

Well... yes... actually I do. And here's the deal. Every morning I get up and make two "double" caffe mochas. I bring them to the bedroom and then we sit in bed and drink them together. So I get to indulge my three greatest passions all at the same time. This is beyond an addiction... it's an obsession. The best time of the day.

David, great idea on the tamper. Never thought of that. I might have to make one myself one day.
