Just saw this video on the 3m 7500 respirator which looks pretty good for a affordable solution for dust filtration.

Just click on the play button. Wanted to know if others are using this.

I have one that's very similar: http://www.amazon.com/North-770030-Medium-Silicone-Respirator/dp/B00156C61Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1276567283&sr=1-2

and I use these filters: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014A7PFI/ref=oss_product
which are a lovely shade of pink.

It scares the dogs, but I'm very happy with the respirator. I don't even notice it after a couple of minutes, it's very light, and I'm not coughing like crazy after turning now.

I came across this video about a year ago and immediately purchased the respirator and use it whenever power sanding. It's also a great platform for vapor cartridges when spraying finishes. I would highly recommend this unit.

Nick,

I was interested in what size mask you are wearing. The guy on the video said he was using a medium and I am thinking that would be my size.

I bought one from TCP Global, via Amazon...best prices I could find. About $19 for base unit (no filters) and then bought a couple pairs of the 2097 filters which are rated P100, but also have some organic filtering (sprays, etc).
The medium will fit the 'average' guy. If you're a really big guy (let's say over 220 lbs) or have an extra large head/schnoz...think about the large. I have a large head (by hat size) and the fit is good for me with medium. Fastening the back strap is a bit tight in even the 'loosest' of settings, so I tend to just let it lay against my face, vs pulling it tight. Yea, yea...diminishes a fraction of effectiveness, but is more comfortable for me. Perhaps I'll add an extension piece to provide a little extra room for the lower strap, and it'll be perfect. For now, at least I will wear it when sanding, and it does make a difference, even when using dust collection.

Good value overall. Haven't tried it yet with my face shield...I suspect interference...but I only wear face shield when roughing or suspect small break away possible.

I have the same one. I like it very much it is quite comfortable. It works under my face shield just fine. I got the medium and I feel like the fit is very good.

I have one as well and it is quite affective. However I leave in central Texas where the heat and humidity can be very oppressive. I have found a more comfortable answer to the problem of dust. Have a look at the link provided and click on "test". I can vouch for the fit of the mask, this will give you some specs and data. You can buy them direct but the US distributor for them is Vince Welch. He is the guy you should also be getting your sanding supplies from.
I have no other interest in this other than as a satisfied customer.
