I'm stumped on what kind of wood this is.

I received it in log form, so I don't have any leaves to look at. The wood is a wonderful golden color. It turns easy, leaving a very soft fuzzy finish.

Any ideas ???

Thanks

Looks like pear to me. I suppose madrone is another possibility

Charlie, it does look like cherry in the picture, I wish it was.

It's for sure not Madrone.

I think pear is a possibility. Not sure what species though. The other pear I've turned is yellowish and this is more on the orange side.

It has some of the characteristics of persimmon also, but the grain looks different.

I've turned a fair bit of bradford pear, and it looks exactly like that. It has a nice melon color and is a joy to turn.

Thanks.
I think Bradford pear is the right answer.

I've never turned it, but my friend brought me a small log of Bradford Pear the other day... I opt for the BP.
