Thanks guys I appreciate your comments. The hardware is from Rockler $10, and I think they come in brass or stainless. This one is stainless, but probably hard to tell from my pics.

Wow what a great gift! If you hadn't pointed out that it is stainless, I never would've noticed. The reflection on the scoop looks just like brass. Very nice work, and I think you may have inspired more than a few creekers to buy some scoop kits.
