The top piece of this started life as a wall turning - but proved too boring. My wife said she needed another birdbath for her back yard decor, and this piece crossed my mind. It's butternut; I turned the column out of cypress, stained it to match the top, and painted the whole with multiple coats of polyurethane. Works for her, works for me.

Very Nice. I've been wondering about turnings for the outdoors, and skeptical that I could finish anything well enough to handle the harsh weather we get. You're giving me incentive to go ahead and give it a whirl.

Nice...It's a good thing she didn't say she wanted a hot tub!!

From wall hanging to bird bath - now there's a transition I would never have thought of . . .

Great job, Mike - appears the two woods go together quite well. Beautiful setting, too - are you the gardener or Ms. Minto?

John - Oh, landscaping is the wife's hobby - but I do get to help pay for it!

Mike - never would have thought of a turning used as a bird-bath! Sure looks great! Will have to file that idea away! Thanks!
