This is the first of 4 pet urns I sold to a customer, who wants one a month for the next 4 months. Made from walnut and cherry. the urn is 3.5 ” round, turned very thin less than a 1/8” thick and 4.5” tall 7.75” to top of finial. lacquer finish and buffed. Will hold up to a 20lb pet = 20 cubic inches.

Well done on the urn! I like it. Does the finial just sit on top or will it seal in any way? Threads, O-ring, glue?
What kind of plans does this customer have for the next four months??

The finial has a glue lip, and these a for their cats that have past. all four will be the same in size but not in shape or woods. Thanks for your comment.

Very nice wood, and while I am not knowledgeable on urns, it certainly looks like you did a great job on it.

Very nice. My wife had our first dog cremated. Fact it was a dog I gave to her just before we got married. Cost me $1 at the dog pound and came with 2 cans of dog food! Morgan was a great dog, but he ashes still sit in a poorly decorated coffee can. I need to get busy and do this for him. Hope I can do as well as you did.

"One a month for four months?" Are these planned demises?

Meanwhile: love the urn, but I'm not wild about the finial - it doesn't seem to go with that piece. JMO

nice little hollowform..I have been , over the years, surprised how many people cremate pets and keep their ashes in a prominent place in their homes. Being a critter lover of the first order, I find it wonderful. People choose all sorts of containers. I have even sold Shaker oval boxes as pet urns AND PEOPLE URNS!!

Jeff the urn itself is fantastic. You have a really nice form and the finish is great. I am not crazy about the finial, for a couple reasons. 1) because a tall finial on an urn seems a little much. I would be more in favor of a simple knob or short onion. Especially if you customer is going to have several of them sitting on a shelf. 2) the current finial takes away from the beauty of the urn itself. If it were me, I would do the short topper or if I felt a finial was a must it would be thin and of a different color wood (walnut with a light colored collar.

Just an opinion. Good job.

Love the shape of the urn, and the walnut & finish are great. I'm thinking also that a down-sized finial, mushroom knob -type cover would do the form more justice.
