I got My Fiance a Bonsai Juniper tree for her Birthday about a month ago and decided the tree needed an nice place to live. I had a piece of 5/4 Sapele and some Curlyish Hard maple left over from another project so I put it together and this is what I came up with. This was also My first try at stringing inlay, its not perfect but I think it turned out pretty good and I learned a lot.

Let me know what you think.

Nicely done! I'm curious how you joined the lower stretchers to the legs?

I like the seperate box - for keeping bonsai tools?

Nice job.

Nice job.

There is a notch in each leg that stretchers slip into. I used a carcass saw a chisel and a good amount of patience to cut the notches. ones everything was fitted I added a little glue then I drilled and added a nail from the underside to secure the stretcher, at least until the glue dried.

The box is for tools and such that are needed for tending to the Bonsai. I may end up adding some sort of feet to the bottom of the box to help lock it over the stretchers, but I want to see how much it wants to skate around once the finish is fully cured and waxed.

Very nicely done. The sapele's highlights make a great contrast.

Yup..I agree.. The contrasts are very appealing. Nicely conservative and eye catching. Beautiful work. :)
