About to canabalise for parts...

I just got a # 12 scraper plane bed and well I only need the frog and cap. So i was wondering if there is a proper way to remove them... I'd like to cause as little damage as possible. Can I punch out the pin or do I need to drill it out?

you should be able to drive the pin out. Make sure you use the right size punch because that pin is soft steel. careful of the casting, too, but i guess you dont need it anyway.

Someone once told me that the pin only goes one way. Ive removed a couple but i don't know which way i went.
