Oh I like these a lot!! Joseph...is there a way you could take a shot of the first one kinda looking down in? It looks to me like you did something cool with the throat of that piece. Or is it an optical illusion?

Never worked with camphor before, but is certainly is a pretty wood! Joseph, I asked on the other thread what finish you are using as I think these have a very nice, soft look to them. Very nice pieces.

Joseph - great looking forms and wood! Looks like they would grab the light and really give the finish some depth!

that is some neat wood. I have yet to turn any pens blanks that I have of camphor... i do like the smells tho..

I like it but I also like it more due to just being different in color etc. Plus your turning skills are alot better than mine making it look alot nicer..

Very nice vases. I really like the forms, and that wood looks like it has some depth in the grain.

I've not hear of Camphor form.... before. So I tried looking it up and all I could find was a chemical formulation of Camphor: Ελληνική C10H16O

I can't know if I don't ask... what is and where did the term 'Camphor' come from for this shape/form?

Jon,

Camphor is a tree form the southeast it ranges for South Carolina to Texas, this piece came fron my borther-in -law that lives in Tampa it is considered a invasive species,it was brought in from Asia many years ago , I had some pics of one that was cut down that was 8'+ at the base but i cant seam to find it . I think it was brought in for the oil in it, they use it in creams ,
