Ive made several posts lately about adding an spindle sander to my shop. I make lots of bandsawn boxes and have wanted an OSS for a long time. I really feel that this is the last machine that finally makes my shop complete. I like high quality tools, and have tried to equip my shop with tools that will last me the rest of my life. I considered all the benchtop spindle sanders. I decided on the General International. It was the General or the Jet benchtop, and at the time I was ready to purchase my OSS, the Jet was out of stock everywhere so I bought the General. I guess I thought I would set the General on my bench when I needed it, but weighing 80+ pounds, it may be a "benchtop" tool, but not what I would call portable. I decided to see if I could figure out some kind of stand, either buying something or making one. I soon found a stand from a Powermatic 141 bandsaw on ebay for $70 with shipping, so I bought that. I also bought the 3" spindle/drum assembly from General, and the insert ring for the Jet benchtop(no insert from General, the Jet works perfectly). So here are pics of my new OSS with its stand. I dont have it set in place yet, but will be sanding on it soon.

my Last Tool Purchase

This actually made me sad. Maybe "latest" tool purchase, but there's got to be other tools to live for :)

grats on 1k!

you lucked out when the jet was out of stock. enjoy your new sander. it will hopefully give you as much enjoyable service as the jet would have given you grief.

This is my 2,830th post. What do I get?

Better need a big truck for it, whatever it is.
