Hey all you woodworkers from Minnesota, where do you get your wood from? I have just recently moved to Minnesota and am going to get started on a bathroom vanity soon.

I am looking for a hardwood retailer in the Twin Cities or St. Cloud area with quality wood and decent prices. I am looking for Quarter sawn white oak in particular.

Thanks in advance.

http://www.youngbloodlumber.com/ works, they'll have literally everything but can be a little spendy.

Another option that I have personally dealt with is http://www.logs-to-lumber.com. He's an independent operator with 50K+ BF of lumber stacked in his house and garage. Can you guess that he's a bachelor? =) Good stuff though.

Another one not mentioned in those threads is Shorewood Tree Service in Watertown, I bought some hard maple from them that was decent. They had QS white oak when I was there about a year ago.

Kyle,

I bought some real nice red oak from a guy not far from you about a year ago. I forgot his name though. He is between Litchfield and Dassel north of 12 about 1/2 mile. That is all I can remember. I have trying my darnest to remember because I need some more. He is a farmer and cabinet builder he had an add in craigslist. I have not seen the add for a long time so maybe he quite selling wood. If you find out about him let me know. Other wise there is a guy done in Madison lake that sells fairly decent stuff for real cheap. He doesn't do any thick lumber though thickest is 6/4 red oak, everything else is 13/16. Nothing exotic just mn hardwoods. Volk bandmill is his name. No web side just look him up or PM me.

Renneberg Hardwoods
Vetsch Hardwoods
Metro Lumber
Ottertail Lumber Co. (I only buy mouldings from them. My favorite millwork company was bought out by Ottertail)

There's others, but those are the only ones I use. Been using Renneberg mostly, based mostly on convenience as they're located 25 minutes away, and I've done enough business with them that I could probably get small amounts delivered in short order, in an emergency.

I live 1/2 an hour east of you. There are two local sawmills just N of 12 that I frequent between you and me. I go to one to buy my oak and maple and the other to buy my walnut and cherry. They do have good prices. Feel free to PM me

I like Ottertail Lumber also. I did our kitchen a few years ago and they did a nice job in color matching the boards. My order was banded and ready when I arrived.

Renneberg has just awesome wood and great service and support. They deliver to the Falls every 3 weeks. If you have enough you might be able to have it delivered.
