Me too. I always enjoyed the show.
All good things come to an end sooner or later.

Terry, nice to see you back! I will miss the show as well, he was a great guy to watch. I hear that a replacement is coming this fall but Norm will be missed for a long time to come. Did not always agree with some of his methods but I did pick up some great pointers.

If you don't mind reruns, their website has one show a week available (to watch, not download), changing every Friday. This week it's the Chippendale Mirror.

I am actually still getting reruns on not one, but two different channels on my version of DirecTV. I get Norm on one channel at 10AM on Saturdays and again on that same channel on Sunday afternoons at 6PM and at the same time on another channel. By the way Terry, your legacy lives on in my shop due to the fantastic blast gates that I have on my dust collection system that came from your design. They still, to this day, work like a dream!!! And I had a blast fabricating them.

Yes, new episodes of NYW will be greatly missed.

The good news is that a Creeker will be doing the next WGBH woodworking show due to debut in the recent future... :)

Amen.

I miss the big guy, too.

FWIW, I had to travel to be seen by some medical specialists. While in the area, I dropped by the actual NYW, and took a few pictures (the only legal way) from the back of the shop.

I think I caught the jointer in one or two :)

I also drove to the "general store" in the town where Norm lives, in the vain hopes of catching him buying a gallon of milk.

No dice, but a fairly good cup of coffee CAN be had, there ;)

While I truly miss new installments of NYW, I wish Norm well. He convinced me and a lot of others that we could work with wood. He showed us one of many methods to perform operations.

Often as I enter my playground that everyone else recognizes as my standalone woodworking shop, I think of Norm.

Yup I miss him......but I wish him well!

T-Chisel isn't exactly a "creeker." He registered here but I don't think it was ever with the intention of becoming a regular. He has his own forum (a good one, too) and his posts here were basically recruiting members.

But, creeker or not, he's a very accomplished woodworker and is good on camera, too, as his podcasts have shown. I'm looking forward to his new show.

BTW, I miss Norm, too. If our local PBS station still showed re-runs of his episodes, I would still watch them.

LOL, you gave up too easily. You'd never make it as a stalker!

BTW, Norm doesn't drink milk. He eats nails and drinks glue. Everyone knows that.

Hey Cody,

Thomas MacDonald sounds like a real stand-up guy.

I miss Norm as well. I went to the library and picked up one of his books requested another. I highly recommend his books, the woodworking books are good, but "measure twice cut once" and "Norm Abram's new house" read like novels. I read both on vacation and they got me fired up to get back to work.

I have some VHS tapes I recorded over the years of his shows. When I feel the need for 25 minutes of diversion, I watch an old episode. Yes I still have VHS playback capabilities.

I have been watching from near the beginning, then he went off the air at the first of this year locally. But now he's back and he is also on the "CREATE" channel.

So now I get to see three episodes a week (which are all different):

Thursday 10:30pm - NYW on CREATE
Thursday 11:00pm - Woodsmith Shop on CREATE
Thursday 11:30pm - NYW on the NYW website
Saturday 8:00am - NYW on PBS

Phil,

I'd HEARD that, about him.

With that knowledge, and the rumor that his lungs CAN produce 150psi ... why would anybody get too close ? :D

Here's ... well ... you know ... just for old time's sake :)

It sorta' looks lonely, doesn't it ?

Maybe I should ask if they need somebody to keep it working ... so nothing gets stale or bored ;)

While Phil was right ... that I'm not a first-class stalker ... I AM a fairly competent detective ;)

Norm lives on in VHS at my house too and I certainly wih him well but no matter how many others inhabit the New Yankee Workshop, it will not be the same. I once saw him described as the second most popular carpenter in history. I'd say that's pretty close to right in my book. Happy retirement Norm. I'd have nver taken up this addict....er...hobby if it hadn't been for Norm.

Dude! They should clean up the place a little before it gets condemned!. :D

If you type in the street address from a web search for the NYW into google maps, this is what comes up. Looks alot like your street level photos. Of course it could just be a similar looking house from space. :D

There are a couple of current threads about Norm that reminded me of this one from last year.

I found it interesting that Neil Brooks had the skills and took the time to find the place and also the pictures of the shop.

I really like this one.

I could be wrong Neil but i think the tool is an edge sander.
