Last month while working on my bandsaw I must have dropped a nut or bolt into the dc, because when I started the dc I heard a rattle through the tube then Kbam:eek:. Anyway, in trying to think of a way to replace the coupling I got to thinking about a 2 stage collector to catch everything ahead of the impeller. This is what I came up with.

Very nice, Larry. I bet you'll upgrade the 5 gal bucket to something larger in a hurry, though :D

Do you notice an increase in air flow?

Actually was thinking of the small bucket while working on it, I haven't decided what to replace it with though. Any suggestions are welcome. I don't think I increased the airflow any over having the single stage, I am just trying to maintain what I had and protect the impeller.

Larry,

Like I mentioned on the other site, google Baytec Containers. Their online prices are pretty high, but local pickup is inexpensive. If you and your wife have an excuse to come to the Bay Area, they are on Highway 146 just south of FM646 in Bacliff Texas on the back way to Galveston. The guys there are top notch, ready and willing to help out...

David,

Thanks, we usually don't get down that way much but that is pretty much what I am looking for. BTY I want my saw back! Just kidding.;):D The BT with the blade shroud, belly pan and Shark Guard didn't let very much dust get away, hope you are still happy with it.

Yes I am, and you can't have it!

I have set the rails all the way up, added the factory legs to the wide table (got them from Sears, officially they are for a 22811).
Added a top with a router table insert and miter slot (Bench Dog insert, Rockler miter slot track).
Added a second dual miter slot table, and painstakingly aligned the tables with the blade. so now miter slot oriented jigs are no problem.
I took the hardboard mount for the power switch off, and replaced it with a heavy hurricane strap tee that is bolted / t nutted to the back of the rail. The wire extensions for the switch are encased in blue split loom wire loom and tied up properly with zip ties. I am however lacking a cover plate for the opening. (That will be added).
The plastics for the fences, both of them, have been replaced, as has the tee head for the rip fence (it broke).
Even have a spare motor for it... I have too much in time and effort building jigs and such for that thing...

If I EVER upgrade, it will be to a Grizzly G0691 with a slider... I am addicted to the sliding miter tables now...

I have to ask. How did you manage to get all 3 hooked up at the same time and make it work? I have to set the DC up for the bottom side, and then shop vac the shark guard which is REALLY annoying... I can pull fine with 4" to the belly pan, and 2.5" to the blade shroud, but when I try to tap off for the shark guard it runs out of breath.

I am considering running 5" HVAC duct to saddle Wye's to get 4" ports (unless I can find 5x5x4 wyes) and then pull a 5x4x2.5 just before the back of the TS, I think that will pull well enough. Might just run full on 5" to the lathe as well. My dust port for that is a floor register box and rare earth magnets...

Here's a current pic of the saw...

I even upgraded the router fence... Need to redo it again for the new router table setup though...

If you wan to maybe go with a 55 gallon drum / Thien setup, I can help you out there. I have made a few by now...

David, looks like you have the saw very "dialed-in" now. I used one 4" with a wye to the 4" belly-pan and 2 1/2" reducer at the blade shroud. If you may recall I had a 4" line running across the shop above the saw and dropped a 4" with 2 1/2" reducer at the Shark Guard. We are running the same HF dc so the only thing I see is that my runs are S&D pipe except for the drops right at each machine. I keep the furtherest run probably 28-30ft partially open and seem to have adequate(just barely) air flow. BTY I am really pleased with the mini cyclone that I added, not increased air flow but for peace of mind when I pick-up small hard objects, lol.

I may just have to go overhead with some S&D and reduce it down to the 2.5 to get the Shark Guard picked up... DC from the bottom end is spot on though. No worries at all there...

yeah the saw is pretty well where I want it. It started bogging down until I paid attention to how dirty the blade had gotten. I need to keep up with that more... Especially with all the pine I have been working with...

I sure wish I had even your little shed in my yard. I need to either move the shop out, or the non shop stuff out, but I am getting really tired of tripping on my lawn mower!
