#8 Square Bowl

This is the end result of something I've been wanting to attempt. It's from an Ambrosia Maple piece I got from Mike Smith a little while back. All in all, I'm fairly happy with the outcome. It measures 7 1/2" square by 2 1/4" tall to the tips and the rim of the bowl @ 2" tall. The wings and bowl are about 1/4" thick. I only got my knuckle once:eek:!

Roland, you are on a roll with these things!! I really like this style - has a lift to it, and a lot of interest to the wings. Actually, I think I prefer this version, with more bowl above the wings, than the customary version.

I second Keeton's motion, that it looks good with some of the bowl above the wings. I've thought about a square bowl, but haven't gotten to it. Maybe this is inspiration - it's a really pretty piece!

Nice work Roland! I like your variation to the winged bowl theme! Good job on getting the bowl to look like it flows through the wings! Not always easy to match up the two sides!
