I just acquired this old Sargent block plane. I'm trying to identify the type and year just to settle my own curiosity, but I'm having a hard time finding any information about Sargent planes. It's about 7 3/16" long and the blade is 1 5/8" wide at the bottom.
Thanks.

The only information I can offer is David Heckel has written books on Stanley and Sargent tools. I believe he is a member of the Mid West Tool Collectors group.

You might try finding their web site and look for articles or information there.

From looking at it, my gut feeling is that it has the look of a WW II era tool.

Good luck,

jim

The number should be right there on the cutter

It's a 107.
The Sargent equivalent of a Stanley 110.
It's not really old as Sargent planes go. At some point they removed the samll raised bump at the heel, it was present before the 1920's iir.
