I don't know the particular species of Eucalyptus... this one died on the hoof, in my home town.
This form was from a gnarly looking chunk of it, done natural edged.
It's 8" dia x 5" high x 3/8" thick. Finished with Lacquer, buffed with Tripoli, WD, and then Wool Waxed with Master's Magic. Chatoyance all over this piece.
Bright sun on my photo bridge... sorry... no time for the tent.

Allen, that is a very nice piece! And, I think the pics in the sun really do a great job of picking up the chatoyance - not sure you could get that in a photo tent setting.

Well done!

That one looks like it came out very well. I need to get some gum to give it a try. It doesn't grow here.

Nice job of turning a gnarly hunk of landfill into a very nice work of art. Love it!

A great looking piece. Natural edges, holes, one of my favorite forms . . . what else could one ask?

I really like the colors and shades in that wood.

Eucalyptus, i have some from hawaii that will clear your sinus'. then i have some from australia that is neat but different and no smell..
The stuff from hawaii almost looks like a burl. makes nice pens.

Real nice Allen! Great looking wood! Looks like you of those pieces you want to hold in your hand just so you can see how the wood plays with the light!

Nice work!

Allan,

Good looking piece. Shows imagination of what is inside some of those ugly pieces. Are you planning on bring it to SWAT in August for the Instant Gallery? Need to be making plans.

Thanks for all the comments and compliments, gents.
It does feel good in the hands...

Thomas, I'm not going to make it to SWAT this year... too early in the year... Got a week long craft show, same weekend as SWAT... turning all year just to make this one show! :D
