To those of you that have made your own hollowing rigs: how did you hold your tips in? Did you make a holder like the Jamieson one or is that degree of adjustability not necessary? Can I just drill a hole in the end like the Oland tool? I know I will have to make a swan neck boring bar if I do that to get in the shoulder. David

Have done the Jamieson style with these (http://www.lathedweller.com/catalog/), Oland style, and Ellsoworth style, all have their place.

On all of my tools, I drill the end, like the Oland tool, and then drill and tap a perpendicular hole for a 1/4x20 set screw. It's faster than un-gluing when it's time to sharpen the cutter.
For my scrapers, I've cut a long (1.5 - 2") kerf up in the end of the shaft, then widen enough of the cut to take a scraper end. One side of the kerf at the end is drilled larger than the grubscrew, and the other side is tapped. This let's the split end be closed tight against the scraper. The scraper cutter is made from an old Jointer Blade.
