Yes, I admit it, I turned my first funnel.

However, I made mine on purpose!

Because so many of you are fond/proud of turning bowls into funnels, and I'm a relatively new turner, I figured I'd skip the bowl step and proceed directly to full frontal funnelocity.

Another wood turner's forum issued a challenge to do a miniature turning, involving some hollowing, and maximum size of 2" in any dimension. It was the perfect opportunity to explore this shape (and working with miniature hollowing)

This little funnel is pine, 1 1/8" x 1 1/4", finished with Danish oil. The wall (near the rim) is .13" thick. The thinnest part of the spout (near the tip) is .024" thick.

Fun stuff!

A funnel on purpose! Hmmm ... I can get used to that concept. Well done.

"Cute" isn't a word that gets used much around here, but that is CUTE!! Well done!

And, the pics are neat, too!

I tried making a funnel last week, got a catch, and ended up with a bowl. :D

LOL, Frank.

Nice funnel, Alan!! Good Idea!! What better to use in a woodshop, for transferring finishes, than a wooden funnel!!

That is: 1) Very clever, 2) very well executed, 3) very cool!!

Great project!

Thanks for all of your comments, and for putting up with my somewhat offbeat sense of humor.

So, now you've seen funnel #1. Who knows where this will lead.

I might do a presidental memorial series, perhaps starting with the Lincoln Funnel. Or a tribute to the Neatherlands: the Holland Funnel.

Just remember: If puns were outlawed, only outlaws would have puns.

Maybe I'll become "that strange guy who makes funnels". Hmmm, I think I see the spark of a future wood turner's magazine article.
