Was wandering around at my parents house a few weeks ago. There's a pile of logs next to his shed that was an oak tree that fell on the shed in a storm about 5 years ago. Noticed that most of the pile has fungus growing on it... Grabbed Dad's chainsaw and split one of the smaller ones in half and took it home. Last week, cut a blank out of the smaller half and turned this.

Apparently needed more drying time as it is now oval http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/images/wink.gif

Approx 5" x 1 3/8" Finished with Deft Semi-Gloss. There was a wormhole in this piece, filled with coffee grounds just to try that out. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I was glad to finally find a good use for the stuff!

Kevin, that sure made a nice little bowl!! The coffee grounds really worked well, and match the color of the spalting nicely. Good find, and great job!
