Wood Gloat

Poor pruning and high winds eventually create a turner's bounty. This maple was severely cut back years ago and allowed to grow from the crotch stumps. It was damaged 17 yrs. ago in an ice storm and was never properly taken care of again. Last week's thunderstorms brought the top of it down. The stumps that were allowed to re-grow are full of feather and the main crotch is spalted. Today the homeowner and I harvested "the good stuff".
