I got the jig yesterday. By just looking at it, I can see how it is designed to be used. However, the fine points of adjustments can not be determined by the instructions. Out of 4 pages of instructions there is a small parts list and a 3 step instruction on how to change a bit. It looks like it is written in about ten different languages. Has anybody been able to determine how to make adjustments concerning the CBA, ABC, DEF, FED letters all over the jig. I know that they involve the placement of the screw bit holes in relation to the 35mm bit. The PDF on the Hettich web site at best, is no help at all. Can anybody shed some light on the fine points of the jig?

Thanks
Johnny

No idea if I found the correct jig since you're not listing a jig part number. However,

http://www.diy-kitchens.com/downloads/HINGE_JIG%20-%20HOW_TO_USE.pdf

http://www.hettichamerica.com/hus/PDF/Catalog/chp1/HUS_011_011.pdf

is one example.

My take is:

- The big dials is to move the jig in/out on the subject yet still parallel to the side. Basically offset the hinge from the side of the panel.
- The two drill guides that is for the hinge screw holes is mounted on the black pieces that makes a triangle. Guess it from factory must be set to a certain type of spacing, but it can be adjusted for other spacings in relationship to the main hole for the hinge.
- Last the 'whole' 3 hole assembly can be offset from a midpoint it appears.

Pretty good adjustment possibilities there I'd say. Now the letter combinations you list may have to do with all the different offsets a hinge mount depends on. Frame etc. Take a look at the list of hinges here:

http://www.hettichamerica.com/hus/PDF/Catalog/chp2/HUS_021_082.pdf

maybe some of these makes sense with the lettering.

Last resort call the company hotline for help on their product.

Thanks Michael....That is the correct jig. These are the PDF's that I have been looking at. I had not seen the DIY PDF yet. I feel that when I start using it, it will all come clear. The instructions that came with it is no help with the nomenclature that is stamped on the jig. After starring at the instructions, I can make out a little of what they mean. When I get it home I'll try it out and see how it works.

Jig, jig, what jig? I do mine like Danny Proulx does in his book, "Build Your Own Kitchen Cabinets." Drill my 35mm hole, 1/8" from edge of door, at proper height. (1/8" works with most, but not all hinges) Put hinge cup into hole, then using a square align it to be perpendicular to edge of door. Use a "vix bit" to drill pilot holes, and then add screws. I generally don't use "knock in inserts", but #6 X 5/8" hinge screws instead.

I know this is an old post, but I just got this jig yesterday and ran into the same problem with the instructions - they are terrible

Although I had a pretty good idea how to use it, your link to the pdf was very helpful - thanks
