I saw a listing in the local CL for a Delta 14" Band Saw (28-203), a Delta 16" Drill Press (17-900), a Jet 12" Belt Sander/Disc Grinder (JSG-6DC), a Jet Oscillating Spinder Sander (JOVS-10), a Powermatic 60 Joiner, a Powermatic 15 Planer and a Powermatic 27 Shaper (5 HP) with a power feeder for $3,000.
The ad stated that the items would be "Sold as a set only". I didn't need that much equipment and I was only looking for a new Planer and either a joiner or an oscillating spindle sander. I called the owner and asked him if he would consider $1,500 for the planer and either the joiner or the sander. My sales pitch was that he would be getting half of his asking price for two pieces of equipment. To my surprise, he made me an offer that I couldn't refuse: $2,500 for all of the equipment.
Probably the smartest thing I did was to rent a truck with a lift gate for $89.99 to pick up all of the equipment.
Here are the pictures to prove that it "really did happen"!! Now to sell off what I don't need ..........
