Has anyone reading this done it?
I was at Bamboo Hardwoods today in Seattle. The part owner was telling it me it stains very easily and it doesnt blotch.
I googled staining bamboo ply.
One item I came across is this
"We do not recommend applying color stain directly to the raw bamboo as it is difficult to get the stain even. If a stain is required, first seal the bamboo with one coat of finish or a wood stain conditioner and then apply the stain, or you can mix the stain into your sealer. This will give it a uniform finish. Always test any finish on the underside. "

So whats your experience with it? Is it very pourous? End grain looks like it is to me.

I've heard it doesn't stain well. Never tried it myself. Try stain, dye and gel stain on 3 sample pieces and see what how it looks.

I tried a few stains and they looked decent, but went with BLO and was very happy with the results.
