Joe, nice work. That Redwood burl is fantastic!! The carbon is high tech looking, and very eye catching, too, but I am drawn to the wood. Nice pics, too.

Beautiful work on both pens Joe! That burl is very pretty but I really like the carbon fiber - real high-tech feel to it!

Very nice work - great photos as well!

Great looking pens Joe. I am more partial to the wooden ones but the black ones are still stunning. Just keep them coming, they give me ideas.

Thanks for comments! I prefer wood myself, but it's nice to try a variety of materials.

Not taking away from the carbon fiber, but that burl really does it for me. Nice pens!

I like them both!

They both have redeeming qualities about them. The wood has an organic feel but the carbon fiber is more futuristic....

Very nice!

Quit guys...just quit.

I'm not looking forward to my CSUSA invoice as it is...and now I MUST order that Zen Pen kit. Very stunning and clean. I like it.
The choice of carbon fiber was a great one for use with the Black Titanium finish.

How hard was the carbon fiber stuff to turn? Is it actually carbon fiber (me thinks would be too hard to turn, but maybe not if encapsulated in resin).

Any other tips on what you learned turning it, if so.

Nice!!

Tim,

The carbon fiber is a real sleeve of carbon fiber material wrapped around the pen tube and then cast in clear polyester resin. They are made by a guy on the penturner forum with the username CaptG. So they are actually very easy to turn, and shine up really nice with micromesh and plastic polish.

The Zen kits are very cool. And the cap is magnetic which is a neat feature. Here are a couple other Zens I've turned recently:

That piece of burl is going to make any other material look like a second class citizen and I'm afraid in my poor opinion those other pens kind of lack luster. Nice job
