ronnie james dio dead at 67 from stomach cancer :(

http://www.ronniejamesdio.com

he was ozzy's replacement when sabbath fired him, he was with ritchie blackmore shortly when deep purple split up, then solo thoughout the 80s before getting back together with butler/iommi for a few more sabbath shows in the late 90s/2000s.

not looking foward to the days when all of these guys are gone and no one can sing their songs live without autotune.

I saw that last night. Even though I don't own any of his albums, I always loved his music.....

He will be missed!

Being a metalhead, I was bummed about this. I knew he had some medical issues but was not prepared for this news.

He took that style to a high art form. Last in Line, King of R&R, Holy Diver, Sacred Heart, etc. etc. Rest in Peace Ronnie.

Tiny man, HUGGGGGEEEEE voice. Nothing was on tv a few nights ago except the top 100 rock songs of whenever, and when I turned it on, they were showing Dio. It made me instantly pick up my iphone to download some of those great songs.

Sad loss for heavy metal :(

RJD was the first metal-head to flash the "evil eye" sign now seen everywhere. He got it from his grandmother.

honestly, i've always liked the stuff he did with sabbath even. there was a noticeable drop off with ozzy in the late 70s with the drugs/alcohol, IV and SBS were kinda the high points. when they fired ozzy and brought dio in you assumed that would be a failure at that time, but heaven and hell was actually really good, especially 'children of the sea'.
