Just don't like this kind of stuff.

Bank of America has a .... I'm guessing ..."division" that uses "Banc" of America instead of "Bank" of America.

This really sets my radar on fire. Anyone know... what's the dodge here? Maybe it sounds like 'bank' so it seems more mighty?

I tried to copy & paste the difference but it wasn't getting it all. Basically, BANC is an investment banking subsidiary and not FDIC insured.

Google bank vs banc and you'll get a lot of hits.

sounds like this is the reincarnation of merrill lynch.

from that statement it's no different than any other brokerage account. they will give you checks and a debit card typically, but there's no FDIC insurance.

I though "Banc" was just French for "Bank". As I recall, the Swiss institutions use "Banc".

Actually, if you look up the definition, it is French for bench and originally referred to the judgement bench.
