A simple 1/2 hour job to change a faucet in the kitchen sink turned into a three hour "fun" fest. I would like to have a talk with the people who installed my sink when the house was built. Who in thier right mind would use a steel washer before the nut to attach the faucet to the sink? Rusted solid.

I had to completely remove the sink and take it out to my shop/shed to remove it. The bad thing was I couldn't think of a new tool to buy to help remove it. At least Lowes is right down the street.

Probably shipped that way. Lower priced builder grade faucets are intended to get past the warranty period and not much more.

Now that most steel is more expensive than plastic, you'll get plastic washers that won't rust but will break if overtightened and the installer will walk away from it anyway.

I started using Grohe for all my replacement stuff. First class stuff out of Germany.
