Any insight on the Nova 3000 as a step up from an old (blue) Jet 1232?? My lathe is showing its age, just missed a near-new (white) Jet last week, but am seeing a Nova 3000 tonight on C.L. Would appreciate feedback from previous/current owners. Thanks.

I have the Nova 1624/44 which I believe is basically the same machine. I've had it 2 plus months now and love it! It's strong, balanced and other than the minor inconvenience of changing the belt for speed changes (15-20 seconds) I am very pleased with my purchase!

I have a Jet 1014 VS that I kept for turning miniatures but so far I have turned everything from tiny finials to 12 bowls on the Nova! (I still have no desire to get rid of the Jet)

You can't go wrong with the nova.I have the dvr/xp and love it.The 3000 you still have to change the belt to change your speed.Nova has great service and have helped eith any ?'s that i have had.

I like mine.

Does the one your looking at have the variable speed motor. That is a big plus.

Looks to me, from the picture below, that it does. I wouldn't have the patience for a belt-change model. I can't call the guy until much later today, will see what he says.

A Nova with EVS, Stronghold chuck, a few tools, stand and mobile base, for 600, sounds like a deal to me. If he was closer I would be willing to get rid of my 1442.Good luck !;)
