Someone asked about lathe indexing recently on SMC. Attached are some photos of a walnut bowl I turned on the lathe and then cut this design in with the router while still on the lathe.

Nice effect, Randy. What setup did you use for the router? Do you have a pic?

I'm having trouble imagining what the router setup looks like too. I'd love to see a picture.

My Craftsman lathe happens to have a "captive" box on the top of the headstock, I set a block in there and one in the ways. The top just has a slot in it to slide the router w/guide. Bowl needs to have relatively straight sides. Photos probably explain the process better than I just did.

Simplicity - ya' gotta love it! Randy, that looks darn near fool proof. Let me know when that patent comes through!:D;)

That's a cool looking bowl... The little 'windows' are an interesting detail. Beautiful color in that piece of walnut.
