I had to remove a smallish holly tree from the in-laws yard. There is about 8' that is 6" diameter or better. I am not sure of the variety, but it was a local ornamental holly. How does this turn, and are there other uses, such as handles, or such?
Thanks

Fred all the holly I have turned has been pens and finials. It is really easy to turn and makes great finials. I could see some vases, lidded boxes, ornaments, mini birdhouses, small bowls, etc.

Fred, I have turned 2 or 3 holly pieces (would have to look back) and is a dream to turn. Can be a little fussy with end grain, but sands out easily. Get all you can! Hopefully it is better than 6", but even at that, it is worth it.
