Today must be a great day for tool gloats on the Creek. I'm the third SMC member with one this morning!

I managed to pick up a Grizzly G0527 18" Wide Belt Sander.

I wasn't in the market for one, but a couple of weeks ago, my brother in law asked if I have a planer, and said his work was going to auction off one they don't use that is just in the way. Apparently they got it from an out of business affiliate company, and an employee was going to buy it. The employee left before actually buying it...

I have a planer and just put a byrd head on it, so I told him I didn't need a planer. He told me it was really cool, and "has a conveyor belt." I suspected it was a wide belt sander, and had him send pictures.

Well, I won the bid, and picked up the GO527 for..... $251.

It looks basically brand new, except for a thick layer of dust from being stored and a few paint scratches from shipping.

It is still sitting on its pallet waiting to be unpacked. I have to wire up a 40amp circuit, but I can't wait to get it cleaned up, in the shop, and running!

I thought $251 was a good deal, and that I might not get it. I was going to bid $250, but like the Price is Right a little too much :D

It turns out I was the only bidder... I could have bid $1

I wouldn't worry about bidding $250.00 too high.:D
Sweet gloat Todd.

Seeing how this retails for $4695 new not even including shipping just make sure you add a few zeros, and then some when you insure it

There can't be very many finds that top this, since you basically got a free wide belt sander.

Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Wipe that smile off. I'd rather use a handplane. LOL.

Seriously. It is time to become a purist, and I am willing to help expedite that by offering to swap some hand planes straight across for that sander.

Generous no?

No need to thank me.

Seriously cool gloat dude.

Ayup.

That DOES fit you very nicely into the "YOU SUCK" category ;)

I pay more for sanding belts for my oscillating spindle sander than you paid for THAT beast!

Hmm. Why do I have a recollection of once having lived in Holmes Hall ... and then ... Okemos ....

I live in Illinois and felt a slight vacuum a few days ago.

Crazy gloat.

Gosh, all this positive response and I kind of thought that I got a bad deal since it only came with two belts (the original two from Grizzly, in about new condition) :D

DUDE!

YOU SUCK MORE THAN A METH FIRED PLECOSTOMUS.

This may well be the gloat of the year thus far given the condition that was worth 10 times the price!
