Handicapped Turning Info. Request
Hi,
My club, San Diego Woodturners, is starting a new volunteer project called "Wounded Warriors Training Program". San Diego has a large Marine & Navy population and we'd like to offer woodturning programs for those with military related handicaps, notably 1 arm amputation and wheel chair bound. If anyone on the forum has experience is training this type of individual, or recommendations on appropriate "jigs" or really any advice or experience we'd like to hear from you. We're just getting started so our knowledge base in this area is very low.
Thanks!
Steve, on behalf of the San Diego woodturning Club

Steve,

IIRC...check with ONEWAY manufacturing of Canada. They actually manufacture a lathe made to be used while sitting down. It would be perfect for those sitting in a wheel chair.

Here's their link: http://www.oneway.ca/lathes/1236SDlathe.htm
