Tour of the Greene and Greene Gamble House - Pasadena, CA

SWMBO and I were in the LA area at the end of April and were lucky enough to make it to Pasadena to tour the Gamble House, what an experience! I am not an english major, nor writer, so I will save you from some long winded explanation and let the pictures do the speaking for themselves...

The pictures start at the Gamble House and then my wife and I did a walking tour of the other Greene and Greene houses in the area, also included is Henry Greene (or was it Charles?) house which is right around the corner. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship was just amazing, if you are in the area I would definitely recommend visiting. While I am a big mission style fan, I had never been a big fan of the Greene and Greene style, this visit definitely gave me a lot of appreciation for the guys and their work!

Just a note, there was a Model A car club meeting the day that I was there, those cars aren't always there! :D Also, the picture with the brick wall is the one that I believe was Henry Greene's.

Yes, we toured the house, unfortunately, you could not take photographs while inside...

The majority of the rooms had the original furniture, but others also had period Stickley pieces. The dining room table was probably one of the nicer pieces, but there was also the Greene and Greene piano which was amazing.

One thing I found interesting was on the second floor there was a window with seating and storage, the seating area was pine with a QSWO edge butted to it. Seemed like an after thought in a house that had everything else so meticulously thought out, it just stood out to me like a sore thumb.

I would love a tour like that. I didn't think they would let you snap photos inside. My wife took one inside Mount Vernon once which caused the tour guide to almost pass out.
