Maybe it's because I live in the UP of Michigan or because my three lumber retailers might use the same supplier - but I cannot buy 1/2" AA maple plywood until maybe the end of the month. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but the BORG's in my area (savannah, Ga) use to carry 3/4 poplar ply for ten bucks cheaper a sheet than their birch. The prices suddenly went down $10 a sheet on birch and poplar ply. So I'm thinkin, well maybe there is an abundance of ply. Now noone has poplar ply around here and birch has shot back up to original price. All within 2 months.

Don't know if it has anything to do with it, but that's my story.

No problems to report here in CT.

The market was flooded with lumber for a while due to the housing crash. Now the market is beginning to recover and Chile, who is a major producer of ply, OSB, MDF and other wastewood products, is having some issues. I read a story last week about prices at home depot sky rocketing, in some cases to double, over 2 days.

Prices for birch ply in my BORGs went up $10 - $15 a sheet sometime in the spring. Wandering through one this week, it appears that the price has come back down a little, but not a lot.

Everything went up here except for the "hardwood" birch and oak ply. I went to buy a sheet of 3/4 OSB to find it was just shy of $24. That's the same price I paid for the cabinet ply less than a month ago which is now over $30. The 7/16 OSB I paid less than $6 a sheet for over the summer is now $14 a sheet.

I don't think I can buy 1/2" AA Maple plywood here before the end of the year,

but then I couldn't buy it any time in the past either.:D
