Here's my second square bowl. Friend in my church went on a business trip to somewhere in South America and brought me back a piece of teak - 2 3/8" by 10" by 3/4" thick. He said, "I don't know what you can do with it, but this was the only piece of wood I could get."

So, here it is. The final bowl dimensions are 4 5/8 square by just a hair under 3/4" thick. Finish is Watco Natural and three coats of deft semi-gloss, buffed out with #0000 steel wool, then waxed and buffed.

Nice job. I'm guessing you meant 3/16" and not 3/4", because that is impressively thin!

Square turnings are very fun. You've done a great job there. Teak is a wonderful wood to work with. Like cutting fine leather with sharp shears. :)

Nice piece. Will have to try that with a small board sometime.

Steve, very nice flow to the slight ogee curve, and a beautiful piece of wood!!

That looks great, Steve. I really like the graceful ogee shape.

Thanks, ya'll, for the comments. Nathan, I probably could have been a bit clearer there. I didn't even think about measuring the thickness of the walls, but they're probably 3/16" to 1/8" thick...the overall depth of the bowl (I'd said thickness) was a tad under 3/4". My board thickness to start was 3/4".

And teak, that was just great turning stuff there, very nice to work with.
